What the lab is checking

The waist number is only a starting point. The lab calculates the board beneath each foot after stance width, setback and binding angles are applied.

The fitting route

Start at the foot.
Work toward the snow.

  1. 01Fit the boot

    Your measured foot and the actual shell come first. Mondo is a starting label, not the exterior footprint.

  2. 02Fit the binding

    Match size and connection system, then center the boot without unwanted movement.

  3. 03Fit the board

    Check rider range and mounting pattern before looking at local width under both feet.

  4. 04Bench-check it

    Mount the real setup, adjust heelcup and gas pedal, and physically test toe and heel clearance.

  5. 05Read the physics

    The lab projects the rounded boot and binding footprint at each angle, then estimates contact with clearance = arctan(height ÷ overhang). Feel notes describe tendencies, not guarantees.
